mentioning getting food from public trees, etc., reminded me about an article I read (which I can't find now) about a vegan family in Takoma Park, MD who grew or foraged 95% of their food. Their backyard was a forest of old world square foot gardening, and they knew all the wild edibles and where to find them in their neighbourhood public right-of-ways. I wish I liked bitter greens more, cause half the weeds I pull are edible.
