CSA Farm Share 2009: Week 19

Just realized that I hadn't posted last week's (Oct 13-14) pick-ups. Oops. Well, due to sickness and such, I haven't gotten all of this week's yet (but will later today), so I guess I'm not technically behind yet. So without further ado.

  • 1 bunch arugula
  • 1 bunch fennel
  • 1 bunch raab
  • 1 bunch turnips
  • 1 bunch beets
  • 1 bunch carrots (yay!)
  • 1 lb parsnips
  • 3 green peppers
    --
  • 1 bunch pea tendrils
  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes
  • 2 kohlrabi (one green, one purple)
  • 2 leeks
  • 10 oz baby bok choy
  • 1 lb carrots
  • 1 lb broccoli
    --
  • 1/2 peck apples

Frozen: basil pesto
Canned: tomatillo salsa verde, apple sauce
Fermented: fennel kraut, sauerruben (huge batch)
Dried: maitake mushrooms, roasted beets, beet chips, beet green powder (yep, beets three ways)

Meanwhile, I've got a Halloween party tonight and have made zero costume plans. Argh. What should I wear that involves only things I already have?

You could be hot. That doesn't require a costume, and you already have it down. :)

(I know I'm not much help.)

Aw, you're sweet. :)

Unfortunately, the issue may end up moot since I'm starting to feel like I may be getting sick and if so, I'll be staying home both for my own and everyone else's good. :/

My costume is likely to be "woman who's stopping briefly at a masquerade party before going to a non-costume dance." I'm hoping I can find something that will cover being a costume, but not look too ridiculous at the dance. Originally I was going to go as Beefstock, but I think that wearing cow pajamas and hippy face make-up will look out of place at Blues Cafe.

That actually sounds like a good costume since it's easy to get in and out of when you change clothes for the dance. :) And wouldn't hippie face make-up just be no make-up?

(Hm, or maybe I should just borrow your pajamas and go as an herbivore. 8)

(Or cough and sneeze a lot and yell at people... Mad Cow Disease!)
