CSA Farm Share 2013: Week 19
Still in denial about the end of farm share season. And also reminded that I never got the radishes to
beowabbit but I will get them to you tomorrow!

I made pumpkin soup, roasted acorn squash for eating and for pizza, caramelized fennel that also went on pizza, a great apple crisp that also used the almond gunk leftover from making almond milk, and I can't remember what else. This will definitely be a soup week -- lentil vegetable is in progress right now.
- 2 bunches Beets (+Greens)
- 2 bunches Carrots
- 2 bunches Leeks
- 2 bunches Radishes
- 2 bunches Russian Kale
- 20 assorted (mostly I took St Nick) Peppers
- 2 Butternut Squash
- 6 lbs Cameo Apples
= 32#
[Up-to-the-minute squash count: 8]

I soak about a cup of raw almonds ~8-24+ hours, then rinse and put them in the VM with a couple of pinches of salt and one pitted date. Then I fill to the max line (just over 64oz) with water and run it for a minute or so. Strain through a nut-milk bag (heheh) and tada!
Though I actually use a jelly bag to strain because DD doesn't like his milk even a little bit grainy.

Also: Are you going to do a wintershare!? The waltham fields winter share is rather nice, at least on paper.

This was before the Dogma box, but I imagine that in winter, it would feel either too same-y week on week, or I'd roll my eyes at the "as local as we could" parts.
But that doesn't mean it wouldn't be great for someone else. We also live a short walk to the Winter Market, which makes for a nice Saturday morning activity. Plus I have so much put by from harvest season that I enjoy the opportunity to use it.
I have considered a small fruit box for deep winter just to ensure decent fruit variety.
