Sunday's barbecue was a great success and thanks to everyone who was part of it. If you left a container that you want back, please let me know ASAP, otherwise it will fall into the melting pot of our existing plastics collection, never to be seen again.

I count nineteen (and counting?) flavors mixed at the event and five additional flavors done the next day. If I left yours out, please let me know!

Sunday's Flavors:

Then on Monday, we had another flurry of ice cream making before the tank's departure in the morning. Due to other activities, this all took place after dark and was all quite mysterious, indeed.

[livejournal.com profile] warlord_mit and his lady friend made:

  • Orange Sherbet
  • Strawberry Ice Cream
I made:
  • Two more batches of C4
  • Cookies & Cream
  • Maple Praline Pecan
  • Mint Chocolate Chip

I think my overall favorite was the Vodka Blackberry and I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture of it, since the color was unbelievable. (But heck, I'm kicking myself in general for the lack of pictures, but I was going non-stop pretty much all day. If anyone else snapped any, please let me know.) I also really adored the Honey Lemon.

I didn't really have a particular expectation regarding how much ice cream would get made, so I can't say it's more or less than I thought, just that I was and am very very pleased with the results, particularly given the large number of would-be attendees who were out of town or otherwise unavailable. And how about a big hand for the folks who hadn't done this before but who jumped into the fray anyway! :)

I did a very small container of Apple/Green Tea/Ginger Sorbet, and it wasn't nearly enough. I'm following it up with more of it today.

Oops, sorry! I didn't think to start keeping a list until late in the game, so in particular, earlier flavors may have been missed.

Added.

no worries - I made the recipe smoother with different apples this time, and added cardamom and saffron instead of the ginger, along with red grape juice and Maté Chai. It's going to be GOOD!

Of sorbets, the Vodka Blackberry was my favorite, though I also liked the Burnt Caramel a lot, the spoonful of C4 was awesome, and I'm a bit sorry that I didn't stick around long enough for Coconut Lime Habenero.

Of ice creams,the Strawberry-Ginger.

I left my soup-containing thermos and a ladle. Will try to drop by this weekend to pick up if you think you'll be home.

I'm sure the long-term plan around the VB played a part in my feelings about it, so it's nice to have the external validation. :) I should start infusing some more.

I do have your stuff, of course! You were the exception to that statement since we discussed it before you left.

Even though I don't like the taste of alcohol, the vodka blackberry was very good.

Thanks for hosting this. Making ice cream was so much fun.

Oh dammit, I didn't even see the vodka blackberry. That sounds so good. :-(

The Moxie was...interesting, and the Coconut Lime Habenero, although good, made my throat catch on fire.

The VB was from blackberries that had been sitting in vodka for months (to make my blackberry cordial). I put them in a blender with simple syrup then strained through the food mill (and also added additional fresh berries). Oh yeah.

The (mostly) non-dairy version of the CLH that I was involved with was not QUITE so hot. :)

I'm sorry we never made it; Joshua and I woke up from our naps late, as you know, and then I discovered that we were out of milk and wouldn't have had time to come after heading to the store. :( I'm glad it was fun!

I sort of wondered, since on the phone it sounded like you were saying you were on your way over. I'm sorry you couldn't make it!
